Christmas is coming …
and I want  you guys to know how we celebrite Christmas in Sweden..

The first Sunday in December, the Swedish people are celebriting the Advent, by lighting the first candle in the Advent candlestick.

Each Sunday, until all four candles are alight…..  Christmas has come !

In every home  it’s lighting electrical candlesticks and Advent stars on the windows and the people arranging lights on Christmas trees in the garden or at home.

The people are baking typical Christmas sweets & cookies  like lussekatter, pepperkaka and preparing hot wine (named  Glögg) with different spices, almond and raisins!

There is a special Christmas calendar show on TV for the young people with 24 episodes.
It’s the countdown to the big day.

Everyday, from 1st till 24th December, the children are opening a window in the calender for each passing day, …. until the Christmas Eve.
This calenders you can have them at home, too.
Usually, behind the window you find chocolate or a small toy.

Here in Greece, you can find this advent calender at Lidl & IKEA !

Finally, the biggest difference from Sweden and  Greece is the weather ….
We celebrate Christmas usually with minus degrees and snow…in comparing
to  Greece, where the temparature is still high !

But this is one of the things I love in Greece !
